Parents/Guardians:
This letter is to provide clarification and additional information regarding Regional School Unit #34’s actions related to the coronavirus. Currently, there are no confirmed cases in the State of Maine.
We work under the guidance of the state and federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and follow the CDC recommendations closely:
- We promote hygiene and frequent, thorough hand washing
- We have increased surface cleaning
- We encourage staff and students to stay home when sick
We are not curtailing school sponsored travel within New England at this time. We have no school sponsored travel beyond the New England states or international school sponsored travel scheduled at this time.
The CDC is not recommending school closure at this time. Our schools are “open for business” and will stay that way unless the CDC recommendation changes, or we are temporarily unable to serve our students (such as high staff absence rates). If a school closure is ordered, we will announce the closure in the same manner as for snow days as well as our website (rsu34.org).
